Position Summary:
The Quality Specialist provides backup to Quality Supervision by overseeing and supporting QA Technicians and Production in daily routines including positive release for Shipping. This position is responsible for coaching and training of company-wide policies, procedures and standards related to quality assurance programs and ensures program compliance with state and federal laws and customer requirements. Additionally, the Quality Specialist is responsible for supporting the operation of the aseptic line from the perspective of microbiological verification and quality. In role, this position monitors performance metrics to identify areas of improvement, supporting internal Quality Systems audits and periodic supplier audits.
Responsibilities:
Learn role and responsibilities of a Quality Supervisor.
Function as Quality Supervisor backup as needed.
Create and maintain procedures on inspection equipment and troubleshooting guides.
Create and maintain laboratory instrumentations and troubleshooting guides. Develop laboratory procedures, techniques, and best practices.
Lead Charm Epic testing and aseptic troubleshooting for the aseptic line.
Support and manage the EMP and water micro testing program.
Facilitate QA own equipment calibration program and facilitate associated corrective and preventive actions/maintenance.
Assist in Quality training of New Hires, Production Operators and Quality Staff
Create and maintain equipment change log for Quality own devices in Production. Facilitate follow-up on setup changes.
Assist in auditing internal Quality Systems at Horseshoe Beverage Company, as part of SQF compliance and audit readiness.
Stay current with GMP, Quality, and Safety standards and guidelines that apply to the manufacturing, packaging, and distribution of manufactured products.
Promote job safety
Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Manager
Qualifications:
Degree in quality or related field preferred
Quality and food Safety auditing experience preferred
Must be able to obtain PCQI certification and Better Process Control School (BPCS) certification.
Ability to lead audits effectively
Ability to travel to conduct external audits
Must have strong oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, problem solving and time management skills
Requires considerable mental skill, initiative, independence and attention to detail
Ability to work under minimal supervision
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel software programs. Ability to navigate in quality database programs used
Navigate internet search engines and other web-based resources to seek out reference materials and supporting documents
Basic knowledge of HACCP/HARPC and general Quality/GMP practices and procedures
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively manage projects and manage change.
Strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate well cross-functionally and work well at all levels of the organization.
Resourceful, proactive, high energy, results driven.
Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office tools, Excel, and ERP systems.
Desire to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
If unable to perform job responsibilities Quality Manager will step in as backup.
Responsible for following food safety/quality/regulatory policies and procedures, executing responsibilities as identified in standard operating procedures, and reporting food safety/quality/regulatory concerns to the Quality Manager.
Hours and Pay:
Hours for the position are Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 10:30pm at our Neenah, Wisconsin facility. We offer a competitive base pay rate and comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees.
Physical and Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, hear, use hands to type data, use a personal computer and telephone. This employee may occasionally have to operate business machines and lift and/move up to 50 pounds.
