This position is directly responsible for coordinating the purchase of stock or special-order inventory items for the location, in order to satisfy customer project needs and order requests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Be committed to customer service above all else – lead by example and set a high standard of service for internal and external customers at all times; display a high level of professionalism, respect, and courtesy.
Coordinate purchases of stock items and/or special-order items by creating purchase orders, checking vendor deliveries or paperwork, and administrating stock receipts in the computer system.
Communicate with vendors about product info, ordering time frame, and availability – and provide detailed information and follow-up with customers (internal and external)
Maintain proper flow of product information and paperwork to adhere to company policies for ordering, receiving, and follow-up with appropriate sales personnel
Ensure receiving paperwork is complete and accurate (quantities and pricing) before submitting to corporate personnel for payment
Maintain extensive product knowledge for variety of building materials available to location and customers
Perform other tasks as assigned by management
Skills Needed:
High school diploma or GED, and extensive lumber and building material product experience.
Ability to read and write in English, needs good communication skills and follow-up.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and area.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Possess high organizational skills and ability to effectively maintain such skills in a frenzied environment
Good customer service skills, time management skills
