JOB DESCRIPTION
El Camino College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to join its Radiologic Technology Instructional team. Some assignments may include evening and weekend hours. This position assumes responsibility for instruction of appropriate classes in Radiologic Technology to help students qualify for State and National Certification. Evaluation of student clinical experience is required. Faculty serve as liaisons between the college and clinical affiliates and members of the radiologic technology profession; assist in arranging laboratory experiences; observe, evaluate, and record student performance both at the college and in the clinical setting; and maintain student clinical records. This position also assists with accreditation documentation, curriculum revision, and the ongoing quality control tasks for the Digital Radiography and PACS equipment in the imaging labs.
The position requires participation in a variety of campus and division activities such as department meetings, committee meetings, student activities, and office hours. Faculty are also expected to foster collaborations with employers, industry/trade groups, universities, and form partnerships with related instructional disciplines to support Guided Pathway initiatives and to improve student outcomes.
The ability to effectively teach Canvas online classes in order to offer online or hybrid courses is important. El Camino faculty must either complete our Online Learning & Teaching with Canvas (OLTC) course or provide sufficient evidence that they are prepared to develop and teach quality online courses through our waiver process.
Extensive knowledge in the field applicable to current industry standards is required as well as participation on advisory boards.
Applicants should demonstrate experience examining and remediating their instruction, interactions, and practices to engage and support diverse students more effectively. The position also requires development/review of curriculum and assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years full-time experience in the discipline; OR
Associate's degree and six (6) years full-time experience in the discipline; OR
The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR
Valid California community college instructor credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355); AND
All applicants must have certification as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (AART) and the California State Department of Health Services (CRT), and a minimum of two years of experience as a practitioner in an acute care facility.
A teaching demonstration will be required by those candidates selected for interviews.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree preferred.
JRCERT standard 3.2 and 3.3 for full-time didactic faculty or program director.
Three years of experience in the field of Diagnostic Radiologic Technology.
Experience with students in a clinical environment.
Clinical and educational experience with digital radiography, special imaging technologies, radiation physics and principles, radiation protection, pathology, venipuncture and radiographic anatomy and positioning.
The ability to identify and build relationships with clinical affiliates to broaden their involvement with the Radiologic Technology program.
Experience examining and remediating one's instruction, interactions, and/or practices to more effectively engage and support diverse students.
Demonstrated skill with addressing issues of equity.
Demonstrated expertise in culturally responsive methodologies, particularly as it relates to students' lives, interests, and communities.
Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the racial, socio-economic, academic, and cultural diversity within student populations, including students with disabilities, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.

SALARY
The starting salary ranges from $80,071 - $116,551 depending on education and experience.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Contract shall be for a full-time tenure-track teaching assignment for the 2024 - 2025 academic year, beginning in August.
