Brooks is looking for a Factory Automation Test Engineer as we accelerate our growth journey.
The Factory Automation Test Engineer plays a pivotal role in bridging the gaps between Electrical Design Engineering, Software Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering. This is achieved through the creation of a comprehensive test requirements document that outlines the functional testing specifics for the Unit Under Test (UUT). The engineer is instrumental in Engineering design reviews, offering critical input to streamline the manufacturing, development, and functional test process implementation at a designated facility.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Assess current testing capabilities within the company and at supplier sites to ensure they meet the outlined requirements. Should gaps exist, the engineer will investigate and implement alternative testing equipment or methodologies. This role involves designing, constructing a prototype test fixture, scripting the test code, and validating the efficacy of the developed tests against the requirements document. Following successful validation, the engineer documents, manufactures, tests, and deploys the final test fixture. Additionally, the engineer crafts a detailed Test Procedure, Test Report, and Summary to document the testing sequence.
Provide training and technical support for the final test fixture, primarily at contract manufacturer locations, leveraging remote system access and verbal communication for effective support.
Ensure the integrity of electronic assemblies from manufacturing to final testing, collaborating closely with Manufacturing, Incoming Inspection, Supplier Quality, and Commodities teams. Furthermore, the engineer applies their technical expertise to address manufacturing challenges and support various technical needs across the organization.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 2 to 4 years of experience OR a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 1 to 2 years of experience OR equivalent relevant experience.
Background in Electronics, capable of analyzing circuits ranging from simple to highly complex.
Proficient in programming languages like LabVIEW and Python, with a familiarity with I2C, CAN, ModBus, Ethernet and RS232.
Able to design logical test sequences for automated processes.
Knowledgeable in using oscilloscopes, DMMs, and logic analyzers, with a willingness to learn the operation of specialized test equipment specific to Brooks' automated test systems.
Proficient with basic hand tools for building and wiring prototype test fixtures.
Experience with other test methodologies such as ICT or Flying probes.
