ROLE OVERVIEW - Business Intelligence (BI) Developer

We are seeking a skilled Business Intelligence (BI) Developer and Designer to partner our dynamic team. This position will be for a 1099 contractor with a contract for up to six months. This role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining BI solutions that turn data into actionable insights. This role requires a combination of technical expertise in BI tools and platforms, along with a keen eye for design to create visually appealing and intuitive dashboards and reports. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for BI solutions.
  • Design, develop, and deploy BI solutions using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Create visually engaging and user-friendly dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to present insights effectively.
  • Optimize BI solutions for performance, scalability, and reliability, ensuring efficient data retrieval and processing.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for optimization or improvement.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for BI solutions, including data models, processes, and user guides.
  • Advanced SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Provide training and support to end users to promote self-service analytics and ensure proper utilization of BI tools.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in BI and data visualization to continuously enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Set precise requirements for future software and make the right strategic decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as a BI Developer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing dashboard design and development skills.
  • Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, or similar platforms.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and ETL processes.
  • Advanced skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

IDEAL QUALITIES

  • Certification in BI tools or related technologies.
  • Experience in providing BI solutions in the fire protection and life safety industry.
  • Experience with cloud-based BI solutions in the fire protection and life safety industry (e.g., Azure BI, AWS QuickSight).
  • Knowledge of data visualization best practices and UI/UX design principles.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Controlled climate, office environment in our corporate office in Fishers, Indiana
  • Occasional work from home options
  • Required to sit for long periods of time, 8 or more hours per day
  • Frequently required to use monitor, keyboard, mouse, and phone
  • Occasional travel within the Midwest (Less than 10%)

COMPENSATION

  • Salary range for this position is $95,000-$105,000 with a flexible work schedule
