Arcadis is looking to hire a Construction Manager to support Project and Program Management in the North American Places business in our Houston, Texas office location.

Role description:

The Construction Manager oversees the activities of construction and maintenance contractors working under the Projects organization. The position reports to the project manager or building engineer and is responsible for the daily, direct contact with the contractor to ensure compliance with contract requirements and effective utilization of contract resources.

Role accountabilities:

Core Responsibilities:


  • Contractor Management-Onsite Contractor Monitoring, Quality Assurance and Qualification Verification
  • Safety Management-Perform HSSE assurance inspections and work with Contractor in developing Self Audit Plans and Risk Assessments.
  • Work Planning-Attend and participate in SIMOPS meetings, handover and demobilization planning.
  • Communication-Assure management site inspections, formal communication of inspection results to Contractor and Project Manager.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Experience in operation and maintenance of facilities (buildings and grounds, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing).
  • OSHA 500, 30 hour, or equivalent safety certification
  • Training and experience as maintenance craftsperson is preferred. Training or experience as a planner/scheduler.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:


  • Minimum: 7 years of experience in the construction industry; preferably in commercial or industrial environments.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate contract requirements including construction drawings and specifications and site HSSE policies.
  • Experience in construction work risk assessments and mitigation plans
  • Ability to analyze schedules and provide feedback to management and supervision.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $76,000 - $114,000.
