Description:
Responsible for developing and maintaining the Company’s accounting and reporting standards, practices and policies to ensure compliance with and consistent application of GAAP, SEC (potentially IFRS) and other regulatory (NARUC) accounting regulations and reporting requirements. This position is the Company’s primary technical GAAP and SEC accounting research resource.
Establish and maintain appropriate accounting treatment for new transactions.
Develop strategy and effect the implementation of new accounting standards and reporting requirements.
Establish and maintain written required policies consistent with GAAP and company practice.
Address technical accounting issues and questions as they arise. Keep abreast of and appropriately communicate new accounting pronouncements and SEC guidance that may have an impact on the Company’s accounting.
Review SEC filings and related schedules.
Build a high performance technical accounting team in American Water.
Assist in developing and implementing IFRS transition plan.
Requirements:
Advanced technical accounting background (US GAAP and SEC) and regulatory practices
Strong knowledge of financial statement and financial statement disclosure requirements.
Advanced knowledge of financial systems, frameworks and functionality.
Utility industry experience a plus.
CPA required. MBA preferred.

Salary:
$105,450.00 - $188,400.00 (Yearly)
