The mission of Fletcher's Office of Development and Alumni Relations is to serve The Fletcher School community by:
- 1 Raising annual and capital funds to meet the Schools evolving and priority academic and institutional needs;
- 2 Creating and sustaining long-term, relevant relationships with the Schools approximately 7,400 worldwide alumni as well as friends, including supporting our approximately 42 domestic and international alumni clubs, and administering world-class reunion and international symposia programs.
The department plans to continue to grow the School's annual fund beyond the $1.5 million mark as a component of the current $100 million comprehensive campaign.
Responsible for championing Fletcher's growing reunion program, including recruiting and managing volunteer chairs, committees and class fund agents (where missing) for every class on a five-year reunion cycle, the Reunion Coordinator will aim to recruit reunion alumni volunteers (chair and committee members) 18 months in advance of reunion weekend. She/he will collaborate as part of an annual fund team to develop and execute goals and strategies for reunion class giving.
The Reunion Coordinator has responsibility for directly cultivating and soliciting alumni for the reunion support of the annual fund and is primarily responsible for working with each of the reunion class fund agents on an 18 month solicitation plan. The Reunion Coordinator is also responsible for planning and executing two world-class reunion programs--the largest in May, in conjunction with Commencement Weekend and in the fall, exclusively for the 50th reunion class and earlier classes, in conjunction with Convocation. He/she is also responsible for the development and publication of electronic and print materials for the reunion programs and manages the $50K budget for the program.
Basic Requirements:
- * Bachelor's degree
- * 6 months - 2 years of experience in alumni relations/event planning and fundraising
- * Must be able to demonstrate superior interpersonal skills and possess the ability to manage relationships and multiple tasks with ease and be energetic, intellectually curious and a good listener
- * Must have superior writing and presentation skills and a sound understanding and knowledge of the intricacies of event planning with a keen eye for detail
- * Proficient in Microsoft programs and some complex database experience
- * Occasional travel and night/weekend work required
Preferred Qualifications:A graduate degree is preferred. International experience through study abroad, having studied or knowing a second (foreign) language or international travel experience is strongly preferred. Preferred candidates should have a strong service orientation and ability to create a volunteer/donor friendly environment in a complex University setting. The ideal candidate should be equally capable of working independently and as part of a team. Experience with Advance or other Fundraising and Donor Information Management System/Database is desirable.
Special Work Schedule Requirements:Surrounding reunion weekend, night and weekend work is required. Must be available for occasional domestic travel.
