SENIOR RESEARCH TECHNICIAN - Biochemistry at Tufts University

Job Description:

The Biochemistry Department conducts research of basic biochemical mechanisms involved in cell functions in both the normal and diseased states as well as teaching Medical, Dental, and the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences.

The Senior Research Technician will perform experiments designed to understand how the Ras-related Ral GTPases contribute to tumor progression. The approaches to be used include both standard tissue culture models of cancer as well as a novel bioengineered human tissue model of squamous carcinoma progression.

Basic Requirements: A Bachelors degree in biological science or chemistry with 1-2 years of Experience. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work with laboratory animals, although at present this would only represent a very small percentage of work. Ability to lift 30 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with tissue culture, protein analysis using gel electrophoresis and immuno-blotting, manipulation of DNA including design and construction of gene expression vectors, and RNA including real time PCR analysis of gene expression.

Special Work Schedule Requirements: Work will be scheduled to meet the needs of the experiments and will include some overtime, weekend and evening work.
