Job Description:

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $111,000- $139,000.



JOB SUMMARY:


Provide leadership to Company personnel and contractor resources, who's primary job function is locating natural gas facilities and inspecting 3rd party contractors. The Senior Supervisor, in conjunction with the Department Manager, ensures that division goals are in alignment with the Company's business plan and all work tasks are completed in compliance with Company, Federal and State policies. This role is responsible to drive the Connecticut damage prevention program and is accountable for reducing the number of damages.



JOB REQUIREMENTS:




Education & Experience Required:



  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience preferred. Associate degree with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience or High School/GED with the completion of the relevant progression program and 10 years relevant experience required.

  • Knowledge of field computers, software applications, database management, and data analysis.

  • Knowledge of gas operations, construction, procedures, safety manual, emergency response, procedures, and instrumentation.

  • Knowledge of construction maps and drawings.




Skills/Abilities:



  • Technically proficient within subject matter and experience of leading a team involved in field operations activities is preferred.

  • Knowledge of industry codes including: 49 CFR Part 192, Connecticut General Statute Chapter 293 Section 16-345, and OSHA.

  • Must have or possess the ability to develop a working knowledge of information systems critical to the work management, financial reporting, and performance tracking of the designated area.

  • Ability to multi-task, delegate to others and respond effectively to high level stress situations.

  • Excellent interpersonal, team building and demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop personnel.

  • Strong oral and written communications skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely express and exchange ideas and to effectively conduct presentations.

  • Knowledgeable about the products, market conditions, competitive activities, and promotional trends in the natural gas industry.

  • Must have strong analytical skills, the ability to form valuable conclusions and recommendations, and effectively manage and present data through a proficient use of MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.

  • Must possess strong Self-Management skills; works well with minimal supervision, manages own time effectively, maintains control over all current projects/responsibilities, follows up on all relevant issues.




MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Issues purchase orders, approves invoices, and provides monthly variance analysis.

  • Approves payroll activities and monitors budgeted program dollars that include overtime, CAPEX, and OPEX expenditures.

  • Monitor performance of allocated staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and poor standards of work to ensure that work is performed efficiently and effectively.

  • Maintains catalogs and ensures compliance of department tools, calibration dates, training, and operator qualifications.

  • Monitors accuracy of Gas Records for auditing purposes and ensure compliance.

  • Reviews monthly reports and adjusts plans as required to ensure overall compliance with mandated Regulatory Safety Metrics. Responsible for the preparation and communication of reports to document performance in meeting department, corporate, and regulatory goals and requirements.

  • Administers damage claims and billing to ensure recovery of company expenses from contractor failure to comply with regulatory requirements. Monitors receipt of payment for bills issued.

  • Leads monthly safety and performance meetings with Damage Prevention teams and Company contractors.

  • Promotes a safety culture through educational awareness and a public awareness program, both internally with Damage Prevention staff members and externally with contractors, city officials, and first responders.

  • Works with various damage prevention organizations: Common Ground Alliance (CGA), Northeast Gas Association (NGA), American Gas Association (AGA), CBYD, and Gas Technology Institute (GTI) to evaluate and implement modern techniques and programs.

  • Responsible to review & assist in the development of policies/procedures associated to Damage Prevention.

  • Initiates fact finding meetings and incident investigations that may lead to disciplinary action of Company employees.

  • Schedules and monitors the timely completion of trouble locates identified by markout technicians.

  • Responsible for scheduling, applying, and overseeing trouble-locate technicians.

  • Must be available for response after hours for work storms, emergencies, and critical assignments.

  • Participate in the on-call supervisor rotation.

  • Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history.

  • Flexibility in state coverage is essential.

  • Other duties as assigned.
