POSITION SUMMARY
 
Logistics Engineer will be the liaison between supply chain, operations, engineering and sales throughout the entire integrated completions job cycle.  The Logistics Engineer utilizes engineering knowledge, operational experience and skills to ensure proppant, frac chemicals and all other products and materials required for the job are being delivered to the wellsite in a timely manner and in the most cost-effective and safe way possible. The role is responsible for implementing new technologies and new digital solutions, maintaining excellent communication between NexHub/office and operations while leading strategic cost-savings initiatives. The role is responsible of maintaining key vendor relationships throughout their day to day interactions. The position requires specific domain knowledge related to oil and gas completion operations, sand logistics, sand distribution, and suppliers.  Successful candidates will be part of a team that optimizes the movement of more than 250,000 truckloads a year and over $100,000,000 in spend. The logistics engineer works with some of the leading technologies in the industry to perform his task such as Shale Apps and other interfaces of AI. This position will be at the ground level for an industry leading digital transformation that will improve NexTier's already best in class supply chain.  
Key Accountabilities


  • Forecasting – Understand relationship between master schedule, customer proposals/procedures, and historical usage patterns to develop continually improving forecasts of supply requirements, at the category level (e.g. trucking) as well as the individual service mix level (e.g. carrier vs. sand trucking vs. rail)

  • Supply Planning – Ensure movements of supply to meet demand at the right time, with the right quantities.  Laser focus on utilizing available tools & technologies to ensure the right sources have the right quantities available.  

  • Participate in pad mob/de-mob plans, pre-frac meeting and other internal meetings to ensure job readiness 

  • Logistics Planning – Develops plans for trucking and material deliveries to assure on-time delivery while minimizing total cost of delivered products/services by balancing locations, mode of transportation, suppliers and numbers of deliveries.  Agility to rapidly respond to changing conditions with efficient best in class responses.

  • Utilize all real-time job data available at the NexHub and work closely with Digital Operations engineers, Ops Engineers and District Engineers to ensure efficient field operations support 

  • Utilize new technologies/AI and digital solutions to automate processes and maximize efficiency 

  • Opportunity Identification – Identifies and articulates value add / cost savings opportunities based on total cost of ownership analysis

  • Supplier Monitoring - Manages supplier performance using appropriate metrics and process

  • Closely monitor daily operations progress and product consumptions and adjust job forecast 

  • Assist in developing new and more efficient workflows and new machine learning tools for the SC control tower

  • Decision Making - Embraces fact-based decision-making processes; naturally seeks to leverage/integrate analysis of quantitative and qualitative factors affecting total cost of ownership

  • Train, advise and support new engineers and coordinators

  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Minimum Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Required
Minimum Required Work Experience
  • 2-4 years - Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid Driver's license - Required
