Job Description


The Control Systems Engineering Technician is responsible for performing a variety of tasks that include control systems support for the 250+ facilities throughout the Company. 



Provides routine and emergency service company-wide duties related to automated control systems, SCADA, instrumentation, pump control, control systems failures, various telemetry communication systems to include licensed and unlicensed radio systems, cell unit technology, networking, PLC programming, development and editing SCADA applications, various electrical systems related to WTP, pump control, VFD's,  monitoring and alarming devices. 



  • Provides demand support for control systems failures throughout the company's four regions, includes various PLC's, pump controllers, instrumentation, SCADA, various communications systems, electrical hardware including electrical power distribution, various levels of SCADA security, alarming and monitoring devices following NEC, OHSA and NFPA-70E safety guidelines.




  • Participates in the design, redesign, fabrication, or retrofit of existing facilities upgrades or modifications.  Provides support for the start-up of new or seasonal facilities. 




  • Performs annual production testing company-wide, which includes the calibration, services, and tests of various metering devices. 




  • Prepares documentation to include updating of various technical, PLC programs, SCADA applications, schematics, manuals, and operational guides/progress reports.  Performs non-rate revenue duties, including demand and routine support to contract operations. 




  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.




Minimum Qualification


·       
Associates degree / other advanced degree with 2+ years of experience required. May be supplemented by 7+ years of experience in Control Systems related field

Valid Driver's License.

·       
Excellent customer service skills.

·       
Demonstrated knowledge of Company systems and ability to integrate new controls into existing systems.

·       
Successfully responds to all emergency situations independently, and assist other Control System Engineering Technicians with decisions regarding less routine on call situations.

·       
May serve as back-up to the Lead Control Systems Operator as needed; this includes successfully leading a team, gaining cooperation from others, communicating with, and assisting other employees and the public.

·       
Provides training to less experienced team members as needed or required.

·       
Knowledge of electronics, electrical theory and electrical systems, including safety knowledge.

·       
Knowledge of mechanical aptitude including safety topics.

·       
Ability to use various equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, computers, etc.

·       
Have the ability to troubleshoot, build, modifying, install, maintain, repair, calibrate, inspect and test a variety of electrical control systems, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, analytical and telemetric systems.

Ability to work independently, safely and exercise judgment using various technical manuals, policies and industry standards.

·       
This position is required to respond to emergency calls on a 24X7 basis in an on-call rotation, and must be able to work off shift hours and weekends to maintain system functionality when necessary.
