Job Role Summary
The Peer Support Specialist interacts with clients with the goal to engage in services/treatment outside of the Engagement Center.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Proactively contributes to Eskenazi's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County. Models Eskenazi values
Meets with clients multiple times a day to provide ADL assistance
Observes and documents patient functioning
Interacts with clients with the goal to engage in services/treatment outside of the Engagement Center
Provides the following:
social skills instruction
training in problem solving in daily living
crisis management and emergency interventions
written/electronic documentation of observations or interactions
understanding and support for clients that are under the influence of substances
assistance in maintaining a clean and safe environment
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalence (GED)
Experience in a human services area, teaching and observing
Must be able to verify completion of state approved training program and passing score on certification exam
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Basic knowledge of behavioral health and addictions
Knowledge of:
community resources
patient rights and responsibilities
certified recovery specialist code of ethics
